Where Kenton County Recent Arrests Start
Kenton County's Detention Center inmate-information page is the official entry point. It routes visitors to the JailTracker Public Roster. The sheriff's office points the same way. JailTracker is a live list of people held at KCDC. It is not a permanent arrest archive. Nor is it limited to arrests made by the sheriff. KCDC houses county, state, and federal inmates, and it began holding ICE detainees in 2025. Kenton County publishes no official 24-hour booking feed. The current roster is the closest official same-day tool. A wider history takes a records request or a court filing, and independent discovery pages should always be checked against official sources.
| Window | Best route | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Fresh or same day | Arrested Today | Use the current KCDC roster and allow for intake lag. |
| Several days or weeks | Arrest Reports | No official blotter was found; compare dates with agency records. |
| Ongoing custody alerts | VINE Arrest Check | Track one person’s participating custody status. |
Why a New Kenton Arrest May Lag
An arrest does not reach the roster instantly. Transport, identification, medical screening, paperwork, and charge entry all come first. Then KCDC must accept the person. KCDC's 2024 annual report listed 72 refused admissions, one local reason an arrest never becomes a completed booking. The jail promises no set refresh interval. A missing name means little. It only means the person was absent from that source at that moment, so check spelling and retry later. Call KCDC at 859-363-2400 for an urgent custody question. A vanished entry is not proof of release, since transfer, a correction, or a data update could explain it. For durable documentation, file a written records request; the official JailTracker screen shows the search surface for current KCDC custody.

It's a custody lookup, not a daily arrest report.
Search the Kenton County Jail Roster
Kenton County Detention Center, at 3000 Decker Crane Lane in Covington, handles central booking for the county. Start at its official inmate page. From there, follow the current-inmates link to JailTracker. Results depend on the application's configuration, and the jail does not promise a photo with every entry.
| Search or result item | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Name | Match spelling and suffix; a name alone does not prove identity. |
| Booking date or time | Use only when displayed; booking time is not offense time. |
| Arresting agency | May be city, sheriff, state, federal, or another body. |
| Charge | A booking charge, not a conviction. |
| Bond | Case-specific and changeable; it does not prove release. |
| Location or status | A snapshot from the named custody system. |
| Image | May appear when available, but no photo is guaranteed. |
Open the official KCDC page first. Type the most exact name you have. Compare the returned identifiers. If nothing matches, wait for processing to finish and try again, or call the detention center when the question is current custody. The official KCDC inmate-information page identifies the jail and the roster route; for older or released-person records, ask the county custodian for the booking record.

This official landing page is the safest bridge into the vendor-hosted roster.
Where Kenton County Arrest Records Appear
No single source covers every stage of custody. Official tools win. They name the responsible agency and the current status, while news outlets and independent pages may suggest a date or agency but control neither their archives nor KCDC's data.
| Channel | Photo | Authority | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| KCDC JailTracker | Sometimes | Official | Current local custody |
| Kenton court clerk | Not its purpose | Official | Filed case and disposition |
| KDOC KOOL | Filter available | Official | State custody or supervision |
| VINE | No photo archive | Officially supported | Status and alerts |
| City police reports | Not promised | Official | Incident records |
| Local news | Selective | Independent | Event context |
| County publisher pages | Often | Independent | Discovery only |
LINK nky, WCPO, and FOX19 skip the routine blotter. Busted Newspaper, RecentlyBooked, Arrests.org, Mugshots Zone, and Mugshots.com all run Kenton pages. None is the jail or a court. Their listings can linger long after custody changes, so treat them as leads rather than proof of current status.
Checking Independent Kenton Arrest Listings
Independent Kenton pages vary widely. RecentlyBooked calls its county view a rolling 30-day list refreshed several times daily. The visible count shifted anyway. Mugshots Zone offers date and month navigation. Arrests.org exposes agency filters and dated archive pages for Kenton. Busted Newspaper posts dated booking-style entries. Mugshots.com behaves more like a publisher archive. Those descriptions belong to the publishers and can change without notice. Treat an independent listing as a clue. It may supply a full name, a date, or a reported agency. Then return to JailTracker for current KCDC custody. The city or sheriff holds the incident record, and the Kenton court clerk holds the outcome. A publication date can differ from the arrest date. Photos can be old, copied, mislabeled, or detached from current status, and a volatile publisher count is not a crime statistic. Correction and removal rules vary by publisher. Some describe free, document-based review paths for sealed, expunged, dismissed, inaccurate, duplicate, or wrong-person material. Those are publisher policies, not county procedures or guaranteed rights, so use the publisher's contact route with official documents, never send identity papers to an unverified intermediary, and skip any service that charges for speed.
Recent Arrests by Kenton County City
Arrests in Kenton County split between city police and the county detention center. City officers make the arrest. KCDC handles the booking. Each city page follows its own paper trail: Covington Recent Arrests leans on Covington Police incident data and local news, Independence Recent Arrests tracks monthly Police Runs plus records forms, and Erlanger Recent Arrests builds on monthly departmental reports and the city's open-records process. Covington posts incidents through KOCIRS and RAIDS Online. Independence and Erlanger publish monthly summaries instead. None of them offers a guaranteed daily photo feed, and current custody still comes back to KCDC while each city keeps its own report and the court clerk holds the filed case.
What a Kenton County Arrest Record Shows
A booking record gets created when a facility processes someone into custody. It is not the officer's incident report. It also is not the court case that follows. A good request names the person, the date range, any booking or case number, and the agency holding the record.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Full name | Spelling and suffix entered by the source. |
| Booking date | When intake was recorded, not offense time. |
| Booking number | An identifier separating events and people. |
| Arresting agency | The office credited with arrest or delivery. |
| Charges | Charges recorded at booking. |
| Bond | A condition or amount at that point. |
| Facility or status | What the system reports at check time. |
| Booking photo | An intake image if made and disclosable. |
Kenton County Mugshots and Booking Photos
The official roster can return a booking photo when one exists. KCDC and the sheriff promise no such thing. A Kenton County mugshot documents intake at the jail. A missing image can reflect timing, withholding, source setup, or a transfer to other custody. Never fill the gap with an unrelated site's photo.
For an older Kenton County mugshot, ask the Kenton County Fiscal Court custodian responsible for KCDC records to release the booking photograph. Give the date range and the agency. Ask for electronic delivery too. That custodian decides whether an exemption or redaction applies.
KDOC's KOOL search is a different channel for state custody or supervision, complete with a photo-availability filter. It is not the county roster. The BOP locator offers no public mugshot field, and the U.S. Marshals Service says federal prisoner photos are not routinely released.
Request a Kenton County Arrest Record
JailTracker does not answer every question. When it falls short, take the county open-records route for KCDC material. Kentucky's framework sits at KRS 61.870 through 61.884. The county names Scott Gunning as custodian. His office sits at 1840 Simon Kenton Way, Suite 5200, Covington, KY 41011. The phone is 859-392-1400, and the fax is 859-392-1412. Email him at scott.gunning@kentoncounty.org.
- Write and sign a request naming the person, date range, known identifier, and arresting agency.
- Ask for the booking record, public custody fields, and booking photo if disclosable.
- Send it by the accepted hand, mail, fax, or email route.
- Allow the stated five business days, excluding weekends and holidays, for a response or notice.
- Review any exemption, redaction, fee estimate, or custodian referral.
Paper copies run $0.10 per page, electronic material like video costs storage-device prices, and postage is billed separately, with prepayment sometimes required. The county open-records page shows how KCDC requests get routed.

The form starts a records request; it does not promise that every field or image becomes public.
Kentucky Law on Arrest Photos
KRS 61.8746 is a narrow rule. It covers commercial use of official booking and inmate photographs and offers a remedy when someone uses an image against the statute. The law does not erase every photo everywhere. Open-records exemptions still shield juvenile, medical, victim, and active-investigation material, and the custodian makes the final call on release.
Expungement takes an eligible process and a court order. Kentucky Court of Justice supplies the forms. Kentucky State Police explains certification. An order can change official records, yet independent copies do not vanish overnight. Contact the originating agency and any publisher directly, with official documents in hand. Google's refresh tool may clear a stale search result once a source changes, but it never deletes the source itself.
Older records can sit with the circuit clerk, the State Records Center, or the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. Ask which series applies. Ask whether files were transferred, destroyed under schedule, redacted, or withheld. An empty archive does not disprove an arrest.
Finding Older Kenton County Arrest Records
Start with the office that created the record. Ask KCDC or the county custodian about a booking file. Ask the arresting city for its report. The circuit clerk holds pleadings, orders, dockets, and disposition. The Administrative Office of the Courts says it keeps no local case files. When a clerk has transferred a file, request the locator details the State Records Center needs.
The Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives holds public records chosen for permanent retention, but it runs no name-based arrest search. Its guidance sends researchers after post-1978 court material back to the clerk for location, box, accession, and access details. Kenton booking photos do not land there automatically. Give an approximate date, agency, and city. Add any booking or case number. Include the record series if known and the format you want. If nothing turns up, ask whether the file was transferred, lawfully destroyed, or withheld under a cited exemption.
Kenton County Arrest Warrants
The Sheriff's Current Warrants page states plainly that no warrant search exists online or by phone. A check takes an in-person visit with valid ID at 1840 Simon Kenton Way, Suite 1200. Hours run Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kenton County posts no standing most-wanted page. Kentucky eWarrants serves authorized personnel only, not the public.
A warrant can predate an arrest. A KCDC entry does not settle whether another warrant remains open. Someone worried about a personal warrant should talk to a lawyer and follow official directions. Never approach a person you believe is wanted. Call emergency services for immediate danger, or contact the proper office.
Kenton Arrest Alerts Use VINE
KCDC lists no booking app for arrest alerts. The sheriff's Notify Me feature sends general alerts and calendar notices, not word of a booking or a release. Kenton County instead links Kentucky VINE, which handles participating custody checks plus release, transfer, escape, and hearing alerts. VINE is not a photo archive. It is not a full charge database either, and it is no emergency plan. Registration takes confidential contact details and a four-digit PIN. Alerts may come at night, and officials warn against relying on VINE alone. The Kentucky Attorney General's VINE page explains the service.

This guidance separates custody alerts from the sheriff’s general notices.
After a Kenton County Arrest
After an arrest in Kenton County, the case trail starts with the Office of Circuit Court Clerk at 230 Madison Avenue. Circuit Criminal handles felonies. District Criminal and Traffic takes misdemeanors, violations, traffic matters, and felony filings before any grand-jury action. A booking can show up first. The matching case may lag behind it. Match identifiers, not names, since a complaint, warrant, citation, arraignment, bond order, indictment, plea, dismissal, or sentence can surface at a different stage. The booking charge may change or fall away. JailTracker answers only who is in custody right now, while the court record carries the case to its end.
Kenton Custody Beyond the Jail
Match the tool to the custody stage. KDOC KOOL tracks state institutions, parole, probation, and supervision, with a daily-update caveat. BOP lists federal inmates from 1982 forward. It shows no public mugshot field. ICE covers its own current custody plus certain CBP holds longer than 48 hours. None of these replaces KCDC for current local jail custody.
Check JailTracker. The person may be county, state, federal, or ICE-related.
Request the record and check VINE or the destination system. Roster disappearance proves neither.
Use KDOC KOOL for state status and available offender photos.
Use BOP or ICE with their own limits and labels.
ICE housing at KCDC began in May 2025. The 2025 report logs 366 ICE detainees through December 31. Immigration officials control each transfer or release, so a KCDC result is never a full immigration-status report.
